  • What resources are required?
  • Are their operational limits that need to be taken into account?
  • Who is involved?
  • If geography is involved, how does that come into play?

MEASURABLE

Establish measurable criteria with which to monitor your progress.

Ask yourself questions like:

  • How much will it cost?
  • How many hours will it take?
  • How will you know when it is achieved?
  • Can this goal be broken down into smaller pieces that are more easily attained?

ACHIEVABLE

Agree on attainable results.

Ask yourself questions like:

  • Does this seem like a worthwhile task/project?
  • How can this goal be accomplished?
  • Is this goal a high priority?
  • Am I (Is my team) the right fit to complete this goal?

RELEVANT

Agree on attainable results.

Ask yourself questions like:

  • How committed are you to succeeding insofar as this goal is concerned?
  • Is this the right time for this undertaking?
  • Does this distract from other efforts?
  • How realistic is this goal within the context of your current situation?

TIME

It is important to take time into account when setting goals.

Ask yourself questions like:

  • When should we begin working towards the goal?
  • When can this goal be realistically completed?
  • What steps can I take towards completing this goal today… in 2 weeks… in 2 months?
